Job Description :

Alight is hiring Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) to contribute to its innovative cloud-based human capital and business solutions. GETs will gain hands-on experience in areas like software development, quality assurance, or system implementation (e.g., Workday, Java, SQL). This role involves collaborating with experienced teams, applying engineering principles to real-world projects, and continuously learning new technologies. It’s an opportunity to build a strong foundation, enhance technical skills, and support global clients in optimizing their human capital, contributing to a company focused on people and purpose.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline, usually for recent graduates with strong academic performance and foundational knowledge in relevant technologies.

Skills/experience:

  • Strong Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to break down complex issues, analyze data, and develop logical solutions.
  • Foundational Programming Knowledge: Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, SQL) relevant to software development or data.
  • Database Concepts: Basic understanding of database principles, including SQL queries, data modeling, and relational databases.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical discussions, documentation, and team collaboration.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in reviewing data, code, or configurations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Adaptability & Eagerness to Learn: A proactive approach to learning new technologies, tools, and methodologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, contribute to shared goals, and support colleagues.
  • Understanding of SDLC/STLC (beneficial): Basic knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle or Software Testing Life Cycle concepts, depending on the specific GET stream.
  • Project Experience: Experience from academic projects, internships, or personal projects showcasing the application of technical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, write, and execute test cases and test scenarios based on user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform manual testing of web applications, APIs, and back-end systems, ensuring full coverage.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers and contribute to automation test case design and execution (if skilled).
  • Log, track, and verify bugs through defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Validate fixes and conduct regression testing to ensure stability across releases.
  • Communicate test results, issues, and risks to the QA Manager and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure test documentation is up to date and maintained in tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, or Xray.
  • Work closely with the QA Manager to continuously improve QA processes, tools, and standards.
  • Support performance testing and test data management activities when required.

Education requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in software quality assurance.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing types, and Agile principles.
  • Proficiency in manual testing with working knowledge of automation testing tools such as Selenium or Functionize.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman or SOAPUI.
  • Experience in defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRAConfluenceTestRail).
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD environments and source control (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative Agile team environment.
  • Exposure to performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Familiarity with database testing using SQL.
  • Experience with BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber) is a plus.
  • ISTQB or other relevant certification preferred.
