Job Description :

Deloitte is seeking Quality Assurance Engineers to ensure the highest standards of software quality. This involves developing and executing comprehensive test plans and cases, identifying and reporting defects, and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of QA methodologies, experience with manual and automated testing, and excellent communication skills. The role offers the chance to work on diverse projects within a dynamic, client-focused environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech.) or Master’s degree (MCA, M.Tech.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field from a recognized university.

Job function: Quality Assurance Engineer I

Skills/experience:

  • Understanding of Software Testing Methodologies: Familiarity with different testing types (e.g., functional, regression, smoke, performance, usability) and knowledge of SDLC and STLC.
  • Test Case Design & Execution: Ability to understand requirements and design effective test cases, as well as execute them meticulously.
  • Bug Tracking & Reporting: Experience with defect management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) to accurately log, track, and retest defects.
  • Basic SQL Knowledge: Ability to write and execute basic SQL queries to validate data and back-end functionality.
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodologies: Understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes, as many Deloitte projects operate in an agile environment.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong capability to analyze complex information, identify root causes of issues, and contribute to solutions.
  • Strong Communication (Written & Verbal): Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with developers, business analysts, and other team members, and clear documentation abilities.
  • Basic Programming Concepts (Good to have): While not always mandatory for manual QA, exposure to a programming language (e.g., Java, Python) or scripting can be a significant advantage, especially for future automation.
  • Attention to Detail & Proactive Learning: Meticulousness in identifying even minor inconsistencies and a strong eagerness to learn new technologies, tools, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Requirement Review: Analyzing functional and non-functional requirements to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability.
  • Test Planning & Design: Collaborating with teams to develop detailed test plans, strategies, and comprehensive test cases.
  • Test Execution: Performing various types of testing, including functional, integration, regression, and system testing, both manually and (increasingly) using automation tools.
  • Defect Management: Identifying, documenting, prioritizing, and tracking software defects using bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) through to resolution.
  • Test Documentation: Maintaining accurate and organized test artifacts, including test cases, test results, and defect reports.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand functionalities and resolve issues.
  • Quality Standards Adherence: Ensuring that software products meet established quality standards and client expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participating in discussions to improve QA processes, methodologies, and overall software development lifecycle efficiency.
  • Learning & Skill Development: Proactively learning new technologies, testing tools, and industry best practices to enhance personal and team capabilities.

Education requirements:

  • Degree: A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) is generally preferred. A Master of Computer Applications (MCA) or Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in relevant fields is also highly accepted.
  • Relevant Fields: Degrees should ideally be in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE), or other closely related technical disciplines.
  • Full-Time Courses: Only full-time degree programs from recognized universities or colleges in India are considered; part-time, distance learning, or correspondence courses are usually not accepted for graduation.
  • Consistent Academic Performance: A strong academic record is crucial. This typically means a minimum of 60% or an equivalent CGPA (e.g., 6.0 or 6.5 out of 10) in 10th standard, 12th standard, and throughout their undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
  • No Active Backlogs: Candidates are generally required to have no active backlogs at the time of applying or during any stage of the recruitment process. All backlogs must be cleared before joining.

  • Education Gap: A maximum education gap of 1 year is generally permissible throughout the academic career, primarily allowed after 12th standard (HSC). Gaps after 10th standard (SSC) or between semesters of graduation are typically not permitted.
  • Mathematics Requirement: While not always explicitly stated for every QA role, a strong foundation in mathematics is generally expected, especially for engineering graduates. Some roles might even require Core Mathematics as a subject in graduation.
