Job Description :
Hinge Health is seeking passionate Software Engineering Interns to join their cross-functional product teams. This role offers hands-on experience in building real features, maintaining live site operations, and enhancing technical and collaboration skills under senior engineers’ mentorship. Interns will contribute to developing mobile and web applications, participating in agile ceremonies, extending APIs, fixing bugs, reducing tech debt, and supporting automation efforts. They will work with production-ready applications across the user journey, gaining exposure to real-world software development processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, or a related technical field, with a strong understanding of fundamental computer science concepts.
Job function: Software Engineering Intern
Skills/experience:
- Proficiency in Programming Languages: Demonstrated experience with multiple programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or Go.
- Web Technologies: Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., ReactJS, HTML, CSS) and backend development using frameworks like Node.js, NestJS, or Rails.
- Computer Science Fundamentals: Strong understanding of core computer science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Database Knowledge: Basic understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases and database management concepts.
- Cloud Technologies & Distributed Systems: Exposure to cloud platforms (like AWS) and an understanding of distributed systems.
- Version Control: Experience with Git for version control and collaborative development.
- Software Development Methodologies: Familiarity with agile development methodologies and participation in agile ceremonies.
- Project Experience: Hands-on experience through personal projects, academic projects, hackathons, or research.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and a collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Code Development: Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code for mobile (iOS, Android) and web applications.
- Feature Implementation: Contribute to building new features and extending existing functionalities across different parts of the user journey.
- API Development: Work on extending and enhancing well-tested APIs for various services.
- Bug Fixing & Tech Debt: Identify, debug, and resolve software bugs and contribute to reducing technical debt within the codebase.
- Live Site Operations: Share responsibility for maintaining healthy live site operations, which may include monitoring and troubleshooting production issues.
- Automation Support: Support automation efforts, potentially including writing scripts or contributing to CI/CD pipelines.
- Agile Participation: Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate effectively within highly collaborative, cross-functional teams and learn from senior engineers and dedicated mentors.
- Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation for features, APIs, or processes.

Education requirements:
- Current Enrollment: Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree.
