Job Description :
As a Silicon Engineering Intern at Google under the Google Internship 2026 program, you will dive into the hardware product lifecycle. You will collaborate with hardware and software architects to model, analyze, and design next-generation Cloud Silicon. Your work could span various domains, including Front-end Design, Design Verification (DV), or Physical Design.
Depending on your team, you may work on high-performance arithmetic units, complex bus architectures, or custom ML accelerators. Using industry-standard tools from Synopsys and Cadence, you will help implement low-power design techniques and perform hardware system integration. This role requires a strong grasp of Verilog, C++, or Python and a passion for solving the intricate problems of modern ASIC design.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and model next-generation Cloud Silicon components (TPUs, Server IPs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define hardware specifications and product goals.
- Perform digital design verification using UVM (Universal Verification Methodology).
- Implement ASIC physical design flows and optimize for power, performance, and area (PPA).
- Work on hardware system integration and performance modeling for accelerators.
- Document technical findings and present results to senior engineering leadership.
- Analyze and optimize memory hierarchies and bus architectures for hyperscale environments.

Skills & Eligibility :
- Education: Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, ECE, EE, or a related field.
- Programming: Proficiency in C++, Python, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Tools: Hands-on experience with EDA tools from Synopsys (Design Compiler, IC Compiler) or Cadence.
- Technical Areas: Experience in computer architecture, digital circuits, FPGAs, or embedded systems.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Linear Algebra, ML/DL background, or low-power design techniques.
- Availability: Ability to work full-time for 12 weeks during the summer/university break.
- Residency: Must be currently attending a degree program in India.
